I wanted to know what is the job scenario of jobs for chartered Accountants?

Hi Venkatesh, While I don't have an answer for you, it depends on your experience and where you would like to settle in Aus. If you are in mining, utilities or resources then obviously your changes are greater. The Financial sector in general takes a big strain now. See my other posting: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/jobs-careers/49666-re-skill-get-into-mining-resources.html

Very specialised skills are still in demand i.e mining/civil/construction engineering

Another option is to look for a small accounting firm where the owner would like to exit (retire) in a 1-2 years and become part of their succession plan.

I came down as a student. I graduated December 08 ' with a degree in accounting from a university in Queensland and I applied for residency through that award. It’s needless to say I don’t have experience in accounting. It was impossible to find any work as a student as I didn’t have the residency at that time.

But it has proved very difficult to find any sort of work including volunteering. Could someone please let me know how I can find some work at a time of a nationwide recession. I am currently in Perth do you guys thing there are more opportunities in other cities? How should I go by finding entry level work?

Any Advice or discussion appreciated.

Perth markets are even tighter now and accountants have much less work....except for those involved in winding up businesses. The only way is to go and seek your own contracts i.e supplying a financial service to the small businesses (but some can't pay). However the government offers a NEIS program for those who want to start a small business. Do a MYOB course first - you may also be subsidised. Then attend all the small buss courses at your local Small Buss Development Corp - NOT FOR THE CONTENT - you will meet new business owners that will need a bookkeeper / aca accountant. i.e market your lowest skills that is in demand first. On my website I have a booklet on "selling through others"

Hope it helps!
